A contemporary kitchen remodel with New England charm
Remodel | Boxford, MA
This dated home in Boxford, MA was full of potential. The tiny kitchen, closed off dining and living rooms did not make sense for the amount of square footage the house had. It felt like unusable space. We decided it would be best to remodel the entire first floor of the house. We did this by taking down all of the walls to create an open floor plan and installing thirteen LVL beams to ensure everything was structurally sound.
Moving the majority of the kitchen into the dining room allowed for much more counter space, and a large 4×11 island. Natural soapstone countertops against the blue island and white cabinets are a style rich contrast. Re-framing the window to create a built-in bench seat created a cozy nook and views of the surrounding pond.
To unify the two fireplaces we built a shiplap surround and found a reclaimed wood beam to match the existing one. Once these renovations were completed the kitchen has really become the center of the home.
